Answers:

1. What are the clips for on the top of the sleeping bag ?
Once your child is tall enough to start using the sleeping bag (typically from about 18 months depending on size), you can zip the top of the sleeping bag on but keep it zipped down slightly on both sides. The top can then be folded over and clipped down. This results in the sleeping bag being less deep, so the child cannot slide down into the bag and get stuck. The top of the sleeping bag should only be used once the child is tall enough to have its head fully exposed when its are feet right down in the sleeping bag.

2. How do I fold the KinderKot ?

Step 1: Pick the KinderKot up from the side and fold it up.

Step 2: Fold both sides of the KinderKot together in one hand.

Step 3: Push the opposite curve down towards the ground with your other hand.

Step 4: Let the two curves in the other hand slide over the top of each other.

The knack comes at the last part of folding when the rings need to slide over the top of each other. Click on the pictures to download the full size document.

3. Where do I put the mattress so my child is safe ?
The mattress should always be placed inside the zippered pocket at the underside of the KinderKot. Never loose inside the sleeping compartment.

4. How do I use the KinderKot with my newborn baby ?
With a newborn baby we recommend not to use the sleeping bag. A lot of parents also prefer to use swaddling/wrapping or using sleeping rolls to prevent a small baby from rolling over. SIDSandKids recommend always sleeping your baby on its back. Only once the baby is tall enough to have its head fully exposed when its feet are right down the bottom of the sleeping bag (typically around 18 months depending on size) should the sleeping bag be used. The top part should initially be used in the clipped down position.

5. Air comes out of my pump all the time, is it broken ?
Your pump is not broken. The air pump is a dual action pump. This means air comes out of the nozzle during both the push and the pull action. This inflates the mattress twice as quickly as a normal single action pump.
Only the 2006 model comes with a pump, from 2007 onwards the KinderKot comes with a self-inflating mattress that does not require a pump.
